PURPOSE: The device and method for controlling the DPM(Display Power Management)/power of the computer system is provided to simplify the structure of a monitor controller and to remove the inconvenience of a user about the monitor power handling by automatically turning on/off the monitor power according to the operation of a computer body. CONSTITUTION: The device largely comprises a body controller(21) and a monitor controller(24). The body controller transfers a monitor power on/off signal to the monitor controller through DDC(SDA/SCL) line and a video card(22). The monitor controller transfers the monitor power on/off signal to D/A(Digital-to-Analog) converter(25). The D/A converter convert the monitor power on/off signal into the analog signal, and output the analog signal to a power unit. Finally, the monitor power automatically becomes on/off.
