OPTICAL BRANCHING AND COUPLING DEVICE MULTIPLEXING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure which is small in size and low on cost and has a good matching property to an optical fiber which is a transmission path and to easily embody an ad-drop function at a network node of a fixed wavelength in spite of the simple structure. SOLUTION: A first fiber collimator 20 consisting of a two-fiber ferrule 22 and a common first collimating lens 24 allowing the passage of its two light rays and second fiber collimator 34 consisting of a single fiber ferrule 30 and a second collimating lens 32 allowing the passage of its light are so arranged that the first and second collimating lenses face each other via a wavelength selection filter 36. The optical branching and coupling device exhibits the function of branching or coupling by the form of use. If the constitution consisting of the two-fiber ferrule 22 and the common second collimating lens allowing the passage of its two light rays is adopted, in place of the described above, the brunching and coupling with one piece are made possible and the ad-drop function may be realized.
