PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an unusually high picture quality CRT tube and color display device comprising a high-precision CRT tube and a face panel of a color display device forming a phosphor dot pattern of an excellent shape precision and position precision. SOLUTION: Compensating lenses are molded by means of a unified mold and machined so that these comprise a plural number of minute planes or curved surfaces to uniform the latticed brightness line width and its contrasts on all the entire parts which occur from the stepped parts between the minute planes or curved surfaces adjacent to each other when exposure light is radiated. A photosensitive film on the internal surface of the CRT tube face panel is exposed to the light while oscillating the compensating lenses. Owing to this, the photosensitive film is able to receive a uniform exposure on all the parts thereof and this brings such dot patterns as make the excellent shape precision and position precision to produce the high picture quality CRT tube and color display device.
