PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the composition of a fluorescent display tube by improving wire grids, enable a thinner display tube, and uniformize on every point of the anode electrode the electron emitted from the filament to the anode electrode. SOLUTION: The striped anode electrodes A1 to An and the grids G1 to G15 on the insulation layers D1 to D15 are installed on a first base plate S1 in a matrix shape, and the striped rear electrodes B1 to B9 are installed on a second base plate S2. Between the first and second base plates, there are filaments F1, F2 stringed thereon. Depending on each of the rear electrodes B1 to B9 which is near to or distant from the filaments F1, F2, the control voltage impressed to each rear electrode is provided with a potential gradient.
