PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image decoder that uses an external CPU or the like to detect a final end marker so as to eliminate the need for a notice processing to an image decoding section thereby preventing an excess image from being added to a decoded image. SOLUTION: A 1st storage area 11 stores received codes, a 2nd storage area stores codes when the 1st storage area 11 is occupied, a code selection section 13 selects the 1st storage area or the 2nd storage area, a decoding section 14 sequentially receives the codes in the 1st storage area or the 2nd storage area, decodes the codes into images, and an image storage section 15 stores decoded images.
