The invention concerns a system for transporting and sorting isolated loads, for example packages or luggage items, comprising an assembly of individual vehicles (DCV) running on at least a travel path, at least a station for loading objects on said individual vehicles, at least a station for unloading objects from said individual vehicles, and means for driving said vehicles along said travel path. Said driving means comprise a set of electromagnetic linear powering modules arranged at regular intervals inside the travel path and co-operating with passive electromagnetic reaction bars provided in said individual vehicles. Moreover, each powering module comprises means for communicating with that particular individual vehicle located substantially at the level of said powering module and with other powering modules.
