PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convent pushing force, grasping force, holding force and the like applied from the outside into electrical amounts. SOLUTION: The converter for holding force comprises a central substantially circular columnar load receiving part 1, both side support parts 2 and a detection part 3 connecting a load receiving part 1 and the support parts 2. Two cross-like slits 4 are provided on the load-receiving part 1 in the radial direction and divided equally into four receiving parts 1a-1d. Each receiving part 1a-1d is connected to the support parts 2 of both the sides via two detection parts 3 comprising square columnar bridge parts 3a-3h on both the ends respectively. Sixteen strain gages 5 are stuck in sets of two on one bridging part 3a-3h, on the flat part of the outside of the bridging part on the detection part 3. When a force is applied on the load-receiving part 1, the mechanical strain of the bridging part 3a-3h is generated, and the change in the resistant value of the strain gage 5 proportional to the mechanical strain is converted into an electrical amount.
