PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact, space-saving microscope capable of facilitating the observation and the operation. SOLUTION: The microscope is provided with a column 4 erectly planted on a base 1, an LED light source 3, a stage 5 for placing a sample 11 which is irradiated with light emitted from the LED light source 3, a lens barrel 13 which is arranged facing the sample 11 placed on the stage 5 and which is provided with an observation optical system 16 for obtaining the observation image of the sample, an imaging device 21 which is arranged on the image forming position of the observation optical system 16 of the lens barrel 13 so as to pick up the observation image, a monitor 15 for displaying the observation image picked up by the imaging device 21, and a recording part for recording image data on the observation image picked up by the imaging device 21, and at least the LED light source 3, the stage 5, the observation optical system 16 and the imaging device 21 are arranged along on the optical axis of the observation optical system 16, and also, supported along the column 4.
