PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel compression.expansion system by which a higher compression rate and reproduced data with higher quality can be obtained. SOLUTION: The compression system is provided with a timing generator 1 that detects a point at which the polarity of differentiated input digital data changes as a sampling point and outputs a time interval between the sampling points as timing data, an amplitude generator 2 and a round arithmetic section 3 from which rounded digital data at a prescribed value as compressed amplitude data at each sampling point are obtained, and a difference arithmetic section 4 that calculates a difference between the compressed amplitude data. Extracting only the amplitude data at each sampling point reduces a data quantity, the amplitude data are rounded further by a prescribed value to decrease the data length and obtaining difference data of the round amplitude data can reduce a bit number required for the compressed data. |
