PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chopper apparatus that can reduce loss of snubber energy at the time of recovering the snubber energy. SOLUTION: Charge accumulated in a capacitor 15 is recovered, by turning on the second switching means 17 in the on-period of the first switching means 3, during the off period of the first switching means 3 in a path: the capacitor 15→a reactor 16→the second switching means 17→an output smoothing capacitor 7→the first switching means 3→the capacitor 15.
