PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EGR gas cooling system capable of cooling EGR gas by a simple structure by providing minimum possible special components for cooling the EGR gas. SOLUTION: Circulated gas is cooled by arranging a circulated gas pipe passage 6 branching off from an exhaust manifold 2 and communicating with an intake manifold 3 through control valve 5 across a flow passage of cooling air by a cooling fan 10, or cooled with cooling water by penetrating a thermostat housing 4 attached to a cylinder head 1.
