PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly adjust the output level of a read image signal even on the case that an image sensor is not used in combination with a white platen roll or a read object is made dirty. SOLUTION: An image sensor A is provided with a light source 6 which illuminates a linear read area S, and plural lenses 31 which receive reflected light from the read area S to form an image of the read area S on plural photodetectors 7, and a light reflection face 85 which reflects light emitted from the light sources 6 so that the light may be received on a part of plural photodetectors 7 through a part of plural lenses 31 is provided in a position near to each lens 31 nearer than the read area S or a focus f1 of the lens 31 in its vicinity.
