PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture processor which prevents a defective pixel due to dirts and scratchs from being viewed and can improve the quality of a picture. SOLUTION: When a defective pixel area is substituted by a normal pixel pattern, it is discriminated whether the pixel is normal or not (S1001). When the pixel is normal, it is discriminated whether the pixel has a color close to the pixels at both ends of the defective pixel area or not (S1002). When the color is close, it is discriminated whether the pixel is in the end of the picture or not (S1003). When it is not in the end of the picture, the pixel is detected as the normal pixel pattern (S1004). Then, it is discriminated whether the defective pixel area is larger than the detected normal pixel pattern or not (S1005). When it is larger, the next pixel is set to be the pixel (S1007) and a similar processing is repeated until the normal pixel pattern becomes larger than the defective pixel area.
