The assembly (1) to filter and clean a liquid, and especially water, has a sealed chamber (2) with a flow inlet and at least one inner filter sleeve (10) containing an absorbent for the impurities within its interior (10b). The sealed chamber (2) has a pliable material for its shrouding , which can distort through the effects of the liquid flow through it. The pliable chamber shrouding material has a sandwich structure with a layer of synthetic rubber, a layer of polyester and a layer of polyvinyl chloride. Rigid plates (3,4) are both ends of the chamber, each fitted with flow openings (3a,4a). The inflow opening (4a) has a sealed fit at the connection to the opening (11a) into the filter. The filter sleeve (10) has an outer filter sleeve wall (10a) with a connecting section (11) for the entry opening (11a) into the filter. The other end of the filter sleeve (10) has a base (12), with an opening (12a) leading to a closing valve (14) which is shut during filtration and is opened to give a back-flushing action to the filter. The filter sleeve (10) has a free mounting within the chamber (2). The filter sleeve (10) can have an inner support column, forming an axial channel with passage openings for the liquid to the filter, and outer disks against the surrounding filter sleeve. The base (12) is fitted only at the base of the filter sleeve (10a). The shrouding wall material for the chamber (2) absorbs external solar rays. Filter units can be combined in modules for a liquid circulation in series and/or in parallel.
