The substrate comprises an electroplated, layered structure on a copper foil strip. One of two alternative systems is applied. The first is a base layer of chromium, nickel or nickel-iron, with a contact layer of molybdenum, tungsten, palladium, nickel-tungsten alloy or nickel-palladium alloy. The second is merely a contact layer of nickel-molybdenum-, nickel tungsten or nickel palladium alloy. An independent claim is included for the method of manufacture of the substrate, essentially as indicated above.
