<p num="1"><br/><br/> Apparatus and method for removing hydrocarbons from water is disclosed.<br/>Housing containing a filtration compartment and a treatment compartment, is <br/>designed<br/>for insertion into a drainage opening (not shown) in a parking lot or <br/>containment area.<br/>Porous pipes serve to remove substantially all debris and sediment from a <br/>fluid stream.<br/>Treatment compartment contains a hydrocarbon absorption media, which in the <br/>event of a<br/>hydrocarbon spill, forms a plug that seals off the flow of contaminated water. <br/>Heater<br/>element keeps the unit operational in cold weather.<br/>
