PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform failure restoration by allowing an OS to prepare a start diskette having generality when a computer is normally operated after peripheral equipment is connected to the computer. SOLUTION: This OS of this computer is provided with a start diskette preparing function which obtains system constitution information constituted at present under its own environment, setting information (CONFIG. SYS or the like), and built-in file (each kind of driver) information or the like in preparing a start diskette, and prepares built-in constitution selection information based on the obtained present system constitution information, and displays a built-in constitution selection picture, and when the additional key of the built-in constitution is selected, copies the absolute minimum program module necessary for starting itself, and the setting information (CONFIG. SYS or the like) and the built-in file (each kind of driver) information among the present system constitution information to an FD61.
