The invention relates to a device for carrying out crossflow filtration of liquid media in which the medium to be filtered is guided with a varying overflow direction over filtering means, and the filtrate is drained away. A crossflow filtration unit (1) is arranged on the overflow side between two closed receptacles (3, 4) for the medium to be filtered. By effecting a pressure difference, the medium is alternately guided from one receptacle (3, 4) into the other receptacle (3, 4). Each receptacle (4, 3) is accommodated in a pressure vessel (5, 6), which uses connections (8, 9) for pneumatic, hydraulic and/or mechanical means in order to effect the pressure difference on the receptacles (3, 4) in a controllable manner. According to the invention, the receptacles (3, 4) are at least partially flexible so that their volumes alter when subjected to a change in pressure. The inventive device is provided, in particular, for use in laboratories and in the fields of medicine and biotechnology for recovering valuable substances and for concentrating shear-sensitive biologically or biotechnologically prepared media under preserving conditions.
