PURPOSE: A register file of a micro controller is provided to reduce an electric consumption by preventing a toggling of data stored in the register file. CONSTITUTION: A program counter(102) designates the current address of a memory device(for example, 22 bits). A status address(104) stores data responding to the current status of a micro controller unit(for example, carry, overflow, zero). A general purposed register file(106) comprises a plurality of registers and is used for storing necessary data during a program processing. The first register file(112) is used for storing an address of the program counter(102) when an interrupt is generated. In addition, the first register file(112) is used for temporarily storing data being stored in the general purposed register file(106) in a normal mode. The second register file(114) is used for storing data being stored in the status address(104) when an interrupt is generated. The size of the first register file(112) is 32-bit, and the size of the second register file(114) is 16-bit.
