The use of a regulator (3) is disclosed, for the regulation of the transmission power of a transmitter, in particular, an EDGE mobile radio transmitter, working with amplitude modulation and time multiplex operation. Said regulator is operated with a first bandwidth, which is reduced to a lower second bandwidth, during a transmission interval in which transmitted data is transmitted from the transmitter. Said second bandwidth is, in particular, lower than the transmitted bit frequency. The reduction in the bandwidth can, for example, be achieved by the switching in of a parallel capacitance (C3) in the feedback loop of the regulator (39).
