The cutting insert (1) has at least one cutting edge (4,4'), which is formed by section of a cutting face (2) with a free surface (4). The cutting edges run at an angle to the cutting direction of the cutting insert that is not 90[deg]. The angle between the main cutting edges is preferably, 40[deg]-85[deg], most preferably 55[deg]-65[deg]. The free faces may have structures (7,8) that run in the cutting direction. An independent claim is included for a milling tool with the cutting insert.
