PURPOSE: A method is provided to prevent deterioration in efficiency and performance of the product by determining deficiency of the refrigerant in an easy manner. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises the step(100,103) of performing cooling or heating operation at a predetermined frequency for a predetermined time period, when a refrigerant encapsulation amount measuring mode is selected; the step(106) of detecting the current indoor and outdoor air temperatures, and calculating an optimum condensing temperature; the step(109,112) of detecting the current condensing temperature, and calculating the difference between the optimum condensing temperature and the current condensing temperature; and the step(115-157) of determining refrigerant removal or refrigerant injection in accordance with the difference calculated in the previous step, and displaying the amount of the refrigerant to be removed or injected.
