An electric motor has a cylindrical, torque producing air gap between an inner rotor comprising a rotating part (203) and an outer stator having a magnetically active part (211). Inside the rotor a brake is located so that substantially all of the brake components are located, in the axial direction, within the air gap of the motor, this arrangement giving a very short design of a motor having an integrated brake. The brake has a stator (201) attached to a rear shield (210) of the motor and a rotor (202) movably attached inside a cavity formed in one side of the rotating part, to the bottom of the cavity.
|
