The cans (30) are supplied in succession from an inlet and turned about an axis on a holder for the coating time interval. During rotation during this time span the coating fluid is sprayed from a spray head (15) with spray axis onto one of the cans with a first angle of the spray axis onto an outer section of the bottom of the can. The coating is then sprayed with a second different angle with regard to the can axis onto a section of the bottom set further inside in a radial direction. Independent claim describes device where spray unit (15) has a spray head with one axis inclined to the can axis. The spray unit changes its position during spraying.
