Yarn (Y) is supplied through a hollow central shaft (S) to a driven storage drum (D) from which it is unwound over-end. A 360[deg] twist (T) forms on the drum for each turn. A stationary twist stop (G) inside the shaft prevents twist being transmitted backwards and ensures that the unwinding twist exactly nullifies the winding-on twist at all times. An independent claim is also included for a yarn feeder with a stationary guide slot (G) at the transition (7) region between the hollow central shaft and the storage drum.
