PURPOSE: An automatic sound control device of digital TV and a method of the same are provided to control the optimum sound automatically in a system by detecting respectively digital TV viewer environment and broadcasting program contents information. CONSTITUTION: An information extracting unit(5) extracts EIT(event information table) information and STT(system time table) information from a TP(transport packet) stream received through a tuner and a VSB(vestigial side band) module(2), and extracts a feature of an audio stream of program received currently and information prescribing current time of an STT. A user environment detecting unit detects a using environment of a digital TV user. A sound information control unit(7) compares the data from the user environment detecting unit, the information extracting unit(5) and a sound sensor unit(6) with sound information recorded currently in a system, and controls an optimum sound to transmit to an audio DAC(digital analog convertor) unit(8).
