发明名称 Improvements in or relating to regenerative heat exchangers
摘要 1,118,888. Thermal regenerators. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. 9 Sept., 1966 [9 Sept., 1965], No. 40450/66. Heading F4K. A thermal regenerator comprises a group (e.g. C1-C6 or C7-C12, Fig. 2) of regenerative cells through each of which as shown in Fig. 1 a stream FC-FF of heating gas and a stream AF-AC of air to be heated are passed alternately, and which are operated cyclically with the cell cycles regularly staggered so as to provide for a continuous flow of the heat exchanging fluids through the regenerator, means being provided to sense defective operation of one or more cells and to recycle the operation of the remaining cells in a similar and regularly staggered manner. In the cell shown in Fig. 1, valves 148-149 are open permitting hot gas to flow through the cell chequerwork 141, whilst the valves 150, 151 controlling the flow of air to be heated, are closed. The valves are each operated by rotation of a spindle 168 effected by a doubleacting jack (165, Fig. 3). The two jacks associated with the gas valves 148, 149 are actuated simultaneously by a single electro-valve (not detailed) and comprising two windings EOF and EFF (Fig. 5) corresponding respectively to the opening and closing of these valves. Similarly, the jacks associated with the air valves 150 and 151 are actuated simultaneously by an electro-valve comprising windings EOA and EFA (Fig. 5). Fig. 12 shows a group C1-C6 of regenerator cells in which successive cells in the series are changed over to gas or air as the case may be, at 6-second intervals, all the cells in the series being operative. In the event that the reversing valves 148-151 of one or more cells fail to close or open at the time interval predetermined by the timed electrical contacts KO1À2 and KF1À1 (Fig. 6), relays become operative to put the cell out of service and to sound an audible alarm AS (Fig. 6). At the same time, relays are operated to bring the next cell in the series into use, and the remaining cells then continue to operate in sequence with the same time intervals, e.g. 6 seconds, such as shown in Fig. 13B, where the cells C2 and C4 of the group C1-C6 are inoperative. If more than two cells become inoperative, a circuit-breaking relay D3 (Fig. 7) acts to put the whole group out of service. The regenerative chequerwork 141 may comprise e.g. corrugated plates, enamelled plates, glass tubes, glass plates or Raschig rings.
