In order to absorb high frequency vibrations of a vehicle mounted on pneumatic tyres a telescopic hydraulic or other vibration damper 6, mounted in parallel to a spring 5 between the frame 1 and unsprung mass 2 of the vehicle, is connected at its upper end to a heavy mass 8, such as the vehicle engine gear-box unit 1, which is itself resiliently supported at 9 on the vehicle frame 1. The elastomeric mountings 9 are gradual abutment supports so that they are flexible for small deflections and stiffer for large deflections. In operation low frequency wheel vibrations are absorbed by the damper 6 conventionally and high frequency vibrations are transmitted to the mass 8 which vibrates with a smaller amplitude which is absorbed by the mountings 9. The dampers 6 also damp engine vibrations. The heavy mass may comrpise a sprung differential unit.
