PURPOSE: A digital video decoder reducing power consumption is provided to supply a user with an easy power saving mode by performing an automatic power saving mode of a video D/A(digital/analog) convertor. CONSTITUTION: A mux selects a signal from each unit of a digital video encoder. A synchronism detecting unit detects a system synchronous signal inputted from the mux. An ADC(analog digital convertor) performs a sampling of a sink level and a blank level from the synchronous section of the synchronous signal detected in the synchronism detecting unit. A micom compares the sink level and the blank level with an established value, and discriminates whether or not a cable is connected respectively with a D/A convertor.
