Polyalkylene polysulfides containing more than 10 repeat units. Polyalkylene polysulfides of formula (I): [Image] R and R' : H, 1-4C alkyl or COR''; R'' : H or 1-4C alkyl; x : on average 2-20; and n : above 10 Independent claims are also included for: (a) preparation of (I); and (b) rubber compositions comprising by wt.: (A) (I) (10-95%); (B) crosslinker (0.1-20%); (C) filler and/or pigment (0.1-90%); (D) softener (0-50%); and (E) conventional additives such as adhesive aids, thixotropic agents and/or accelerators.
