The invention comprises water-insoluble monoazo dyestuffs of the formula <FORM:1120279/C4-C5/1> wherein <FORM:1120279/C4-C5/2> is a residue of benzthiazole, 1,2,3-benzothiadiazole or 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole, which may be substituted with halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkanoyl, alkylamino, dialkylamino, alkanoylamino or mercapto groups and A is an aromatic, heterocyclic, cycloaliphatic or aliphatic residue which carries a hydroxyl group at one of the ortho positions to the azo group and which may be substituted further with OH, halogen, alkoxy, alkylamino, dialkylamino, arylamino, phenyl, substituted phenyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aminocarbonyl, substituted aminocarbonyl, alkyl carbonyl, aryl carbonyl or morpholine. They may be obtained by coupling a diazotized amine of the formula <FORM:1120279/C4-C5/3> with a coupling component of Formula A Specified coupling components include b -. naphthol, p-cresol, p-chlorophenol, p-bromophenol, 3,4-dimethylphenol, 3-dimethylaminophenol, hydroquinone monomethyl ether, 6-chloro-2-naphthol, 2-hydroxy-3-naphthoic acid ethyl ester, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1-(o - chlorophenyl) - 3 - methyl - 5 - pyrazolone, 3-hydroxy-5-methylthionaphthene, resorcinol, acetoacetic acid ethyl ester, dimedone and acetylacetone. Examples are given for the production of the dyes. They may be used for dyeing shaped articles of polyolefin polymers.
