A method and/or an apparatus which provide user location information. A user location server and a user location database contain information relating to the user's current location. The information can be an IP address associated with the user's computer and a telephone number where the user can be reached. The database can also contain a public key certificate which can be used to perform secure communications with the user. The user location information can be retrieved using a unique user identifier such as an e-mail address. The user location server and the user location database are associated with a domain of the unique user identifier. To access the user location server and user location database, an address provider associated with the domain of the unique user identifier is accessed.
