PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base for vehicle seat having an operation device having interchangeability with a slide rail. SOLUTION: This base for vehicle seat has two slide rails 6 and two control shafts 12 supported on these two slide rails 6, respectively, to perform pivot movement, and these control shafts 12 are rigidly fixed on a control lever 31 moved simultaneously so as to perform pivot movement in two mutually opposite directions of movement 36, 37. The control shafts 12 are rigidly fixed on two connection arms 23 capable of releasing locking of two slide rails 6 when the control shafts 12 perform pivot movement from their stationary positions in the direction of operation.
