PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for more readily synthesizing a cyanic coloring matter forming coupler exhibiting hue characteristics comparable to a conventional technique than a conventional method. SOLUTION: This photographic element comprises a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer obtained by combing cyanic couplers of formula (I) (R1, R3, R2, m, p, X, W and W2 are each as described in the specification).
