The present invention provides a method of manufacturing an air bag, and an air bag manufactured by such a method, which incorporates a separate gas supply duct 7. The method comprises the steps of inserting a dummy linear gas duct (10 in figure 2) into the air bag 1 in the position 3 to be occupied by the real gas duct, folding the air bag, and inserting the folded air bag and dummy gas duct into holding means (24 in figure 6). The dummy gas duct is then removed from the air bag within the holding means with a substantially axial movement, whilst simultaneously inserting the real gas duct (26 in figure 9) into the air bag. The real gas duct may be non-linear and may be rigid or flexible. The real gas duct and dummy gas duct may be releasably interconnected so that as the dummy duct is withdrawn the real duct is automatically inserted. The interconnection may take various forms (see figures 10 to 13). |
