PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparation process of a phosphor which has a narrow particle size distribution of phosphor particles, contains a few agglomerated particles, has a globular shape or shape close to this, has a high purity and a uniform chemical composition and shows excellent luminous properties. SOLUTION: In the process for preparing phosphor from a solution containing a metal element constituting a phosphor, the above-mentioned solution is previously prepared, and, using a nozzle which has an ejection outlet 2 for a highpressure gas behind a smooth surface 1 and a feed opening 3 for the above- mentioned solution at the middle part of the smooth surface and discharges fine droplets from the end of the smooth surface, the solution is supplied from the feed opening while the highpressure gas ejected from the ejection outlet toward the smooth surface flows down and forms a high-speed gas flow without detaching from the smooth surface. The highspeed gas flow pushes the solution against the smooth surface to form a thin film flow, which is discharged as fine droplets 5 from the end 4 of the smooth surface. The droplets are dried, heated and subjected to pyrolysis synthesis to prepare a phosphor.
