PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cardboard base paper preventing the generation of cut refuse or the like and used for manufacturing a paper container having a desired opening formed thereto and the paper container using the same. SOLUTION: Cardboard raw paper 11 is set to the space between an upper mold member 31 having a projected part 33 formed thereto and a lower mold member 32 having a recessed part 34 formed thereto, so that the molding part 27 between the slits 17a, 17b of the cardboard raw paper 11 is opposed to the projected part 33 and the recessed part 34. In this state, the cardboard raw paper 11 is pressed from above and below by the upper and lower mold members 31, 32. Whereupon, the molding part 27 is drawn in along the shapes of the projected part 33 and the recessed part 34 to form a protruded part 22. The gaps of the slits 17a, 17b are expanded accompanied by the drawing-in operation of the molding part 27 to form opening 23a, 23b.
