ROLLING MILL AND METHOD FOR REDUCING ITS RUNNING CROSS MANIPULATING FORCE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a running pair cross type rolling mill without requiring a new space for plane bearings for running cross and a method for reducing its running cross manipulating force. SOLUTION: In the flying pair cross type rolling mill in which, shape control is performed by crossing upper and lower work rolls 2 and back-up rolls 3 during the rolling of a metal plate, hydrostatic semi-floatation type plane bearings which are made so that rolling load is shared with hydrostatic support pockets 8 utiizing oil pressure and solid contact parts M are incorporated in a sled bases 6 which are interposed between the back-up rolls 3 and a housing 1 and of which liner parts are constituted.
