PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejector which can eject a liquid drop more stably by effectively suppressing meniscus vibration at a nozzle opening corresponding to a pressure generating chamber not subjected to deformation driving. SOLUTION: A pressure generating chamber 3 has a Helmholtz resonance frequency of period TH. A drive signal has a first signal element for expanding the pressure generating chamber 3, a second signal element for contracting the pressure generating chamber 3 in an expanded state, and a third signal element for expanding the pressure generating chamber 3 up to a state prevailing before output of the first signal element after a liquid drop is ejected. The time elapsed after starting output of the first signal element before starting output of the second signal element, and the time elapsed after starting output of the second signal element before starting output of the third signal element are substantially equal to the period TH of Helmholtz resonance frequency. Furthermore, the sum of amplitude of the first and third signal elements is substantially equal to the amplitude of the second signal element.
