PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize the whole of an apparatus by collectively arranging a transfer guide shaft for driving a head unit and an anvil unit, a transfer transmission shaft, a pivot transmission shaft and the like. SOLUTION: In a stapler equipped with a head unit 3 for nailing a sheet bundle, an anvil unit 4 for bending both ends of the nail driven into the sheet bundle, a movable frame 40 which is, in a freely pivotal manner, fitted to an apparatus frame and holds at least either of the head unit 3 or the anvil unit 4, and a drive means for pivoting the movable frame, a pair of front and rear guide shafts 6, 33 and 10, 43 wherein the head unit 3 and the anvil unit 4 move left and right, and screw rods 14, 15 which are arranged in their middle part to transmit a left to right direction transfer force to the head unit 3 and the anvil unit 4 are provided, and the guide shaft 43 serves both as a rotary drive shaft of the movable frame 40.
