PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a rigid polyurethane foam having excellent heat insulating properties. SOLUTION: This rigid polyurethane foam is obtained by reacting a polyaromatic polyol with a polyisocyanate component in the presence of cyclopentane, has 80-130μm closed cell size and an improve adiabatic exponent. Consequently, when the rigid polyurethane foam is used as a heat insulating material of refrigerators, power consumption can be reduced to 5-10%.
