PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PET bottle identifying dvice which prevents the rate of identification of a PET bottle from being deteriorated, even when the coincidence range of shape parameters for interpretation of the PET bottle is widened. SOLUTION: This PET bottle identifying device comprises a CCD camera device 2 which photographs an object to be conveyed on a belt conveyor, a parameter computing part 12 which computes the shape parameters of the object based on the external shape line of an object image photographed with the camera device 2, a PET bottle interpretation part 14 which compares the shape parameters sought by the parameter computing part 12 with the shape parameter of the PET bottle registered previously in a data part 13 and interprets whether the comparison results show the coincidence within a specified set range, and a mouth part extraction part 15 which extracts a part showing the mouth part shape of the PET bottle based on the external shape line of the image object, when the comparison results of the shape parameters show the coincidence trough the PET bottle interaction part 14. When the mouth part is extracted with the mouth part extraction part 15, the object is interpreted as the PET bottle.
