PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blue ink which can form a high-quality, distinct image with a high density without being accompanied by indefinite or irregular blur and which hardly causes clogging of an orifice even when a recording head is left standing for a long time. SOLUTION: This ink contains a first dye, a second dye, and a liquid medium for dispersing or dissolving these dyes. The first dye is C.I. Direct Blue 199. The second dye is a compound represented by formula I. The mixing ratio by weight of the first dye to the second dye is (5:1)-(2:1), and the dye concentration in the ink is 1-2.5 wt.%.
