PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the steering following property, and to simplify, reduce the size of, and the cost of a structure of a steering damper which can mitigate the shock of the kickback etc. SOLUTION: This steering damper comprises a flow passage selector valve to switch and connect a pump, a tank and right and left chambers of a power cylinder according to the steering operation, and right and left cylinder passages 3 and 4 to be connected to the right and left chambers. Right and left dampers 10A, 10B comprise variable throttle valves 6, 7 provided in the middle of each cylinder passage to limit the inflow from the power cylinder to the flow passage selector valve, and pilot operation check valves 8, 9 connected in parallel thereto to permit the inflow from the flow passage selector valve to the power cylinder. A pilot plunger 30 provided with these components in the vicinity of each passage implementing the sliding operation between the right and left dampers is provided. Each end of the pilot plunger faces the right and left cylinder passages to form a pressure receiving surface to receive each fluid pressure, and also to form a working surface actuated by the fluid pressure in one passage to open the pilot operation check valve of the other passage. |
