PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find out a polyphenol fraction having more effective bacteriostatic action than conventional ones by further separating polyphenol fractions and provide an effective and useful bacteriostatic agent and a beverage containing the same. SOLUTION: This bacteriostatic agent contains a peak portion obtained by isolating from a polyphenol fraction obtained from fruits, fruit seeds, etc., through a reverse phase liquid column chromatography and belonging to a peak eluted at the latter portion in the major peaks and disappeared by treating with an NF membrane. This beverage contains the bacteriostatic agent. |
