PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary raw material for refining molten iron which is excellent in characteristics and is inexpensive. SOLUTION: The auxiliary raw material for refining molten iron is obtained by mixing, molding and heat treating respective powders consisting of a nonaqueous organic binder, more preferably a thermosetting phenolic resin, one or >=2 kinds among the oxide of alkaline metals, the oxide of alkaline earth metals and the carbonate of these metals and one or >=2 kinds metal aluminum, aluminum ash and materials containing metallic aluminum, such as aluminum dross.
