PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing a fibrous substance such as hair in an activated sludge method constituted so as to be capable of elimination the entanglement of the fibrous substance such as hair with a sensor or a pump by simply and certainly catching and removing the fibrous substance such as hair contained in sewage. SOLUTION: Ropes 30 for catching the fibrous substance such as hair are immersed in a water channel A connecting an aeration tank 1 and a sedimentation basin 2 or a sludge return passage B connecting the sedimentation basin 2 and the aeration tank 1 to selectively catch and remove the fibrous substance such as hair contained in sewage.
