PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ultraviolet screening glass, excellent in ultraviolet screening properties against UV rays and transparency, inexpensive and producing little foams in the production, and to provide a method of producing the glass. SOLUTION: In the ultraviolet screening glass containing SiO2 an ultraviolet screening component and a decolorizing agent as glass components, the oxidation reduction index of the glass is specified to a range from 20 to 40. The ultraviolet screening component contains CeO2 and V2O5 or one of the organic compounds. As for the decolorizing agent, the glass contains at least one inorganic compound selected from a group of MnO2, CoO and NiO.
