Ribs (15) which separate the channels (19) from one another are provided with suction openings (20, 21) in order to draw by negative pressure bubbles, which have been formed by moisture absorption in the receiving material, into the channels (19) in order to prevent said bubbles from coming into contact there with ink application means movable flatly over the plate (6). The outermost channels (19) are provided with suction openings (27) in the channel walls (26) in order to keep wrinkles and corrugations at the sides of receiving material out of contact with the ink application means.
