摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent the irregularity of the light outputs of light emitting diodes between chips and to uniformize the size or printing desity of a printing dot by providing a monitoring light detecting and emitting integrated type element consisting of a light emitting element and a photodetector of a laminated structure at the rear position on the side opposite to the light emitting direction of an edge emission type light emitting diode array. CONSTITUTION:An optical printer light source is constituted of a light emitting diode array wherein respective layers are formed so as to be separated electrically and spatially by a large number of first separation grooves 11 to which edge emission type light emitting diodes 2 wherein light outputs are obtained from the laminated edge surfaces thereof are provided at an equal interval. A monitoring light detecting and emitting integrated type element 4 is constituted of a light emitting element 5 and a photodetector 6 formed by separating the same laminated structure as the edge emission type light emitting diodes electrically and spatially by a second separation groove 12 and arranged so that the light emitting direction thereof becomes right-angled to the light emitting direction of the light emitting diode. By this constitution, light outputs are suppressed in irregularity and can be uniformized with extremely high accuracy and printing of high quality can be performed.
